Have any of you heard of ScareMeNots? If not, you are really missing out. ScareMeNots are adorable stuffed animal monsters that are literally designd to “hang-out” wherever your child may fear the appearance of a real monster. Seriously – they will hang almost anywhere. These creative, cuddly stuffed animals feature an extra-long tail with a little piece of Velcro attached to the end, which allows your child to carry them around with him or her, or to hang them in the closet, on the door knob, around the dog’s neck (not recommended by the way, my dog hated it!), and pretty much anywhere else you can imagine.
I received Watchdog Wally to review and my 5 year son fell immediately in love with this hollowed-mouthed, three-eyed creation. Funny story though – he doesn’t believe that Wally scares away the monsters at night. Rather, he seems to believe that little kids HAVE to be scared every night (maybe it’s some law that parents aren’t informed about but that kids receive advanced notice of during the “educational” cartoons we let them watch?) So, what my son decided was that he could hang Wally from his closet door, wake-up, get scared of him, realize that he was fine, and avoid a visit from other, less friendly monsters. Okay – so maybe this isn’t exactly how Watchdog Wally was supposed to work, but the point is – it works! Johnathon sleeps with Wally every night, drags him around all day long, and is going to bed MUCH easier now that he’s got Wally to frighten him innocuously every night.
My Watchdog Wally is well made, remarkably unfrightening – regardless of my son’s slightly unusual take on things – and (you all know what I’m going to say) machine washable! Seriously, nothing can get this mom as wound up as a machine washable children’s product! Each ScareMeNot character comes with its own name and unique personality, which you can read about when you check out the ScareMeNot website – you know you want to! I’m thrilled with Watchdog Wally, and I know you’re gonna love these monsters too!
